Verbal Bomb Threat Received at St. Andrew’s School
Posted on February 12th, 2018
St. Andrew’s School was evacuated this afternoon after a verbal bomb threat was received. School administration ordered the evacuation immediately and then promptly contacted the RCMP. After ensuring all students and staff were safely evacuated, all parents and guardians were notified using the school’s notification system. Local RCMP officers are currently conducting a thorough search of the building. Students and staff are not allowed to re-enter the school as the inspection is not yet complete.
“We are awaiting direction from the RCMP about when the school will be deemed safe to re-enter. We are asking that all parents and guardians check the St. Andrew’s website this evening, as there is a slim chance that the RCMP will recommend that we keep the school closed tomorrow in the best interest of student and staff safety,” said Superintendent Betty Turpin. “We are very grateful that all students and staff are safe.”
RCMP are continuing their investigation into the incident. HFCRD will communicate new information to parents and guardians as it presents itself.
